About
My research occurs primarily within Philosophy of Mind and Gender Studies, but specifically, I am interested in Extended Cognition and how it can be applied to Gendered Subjectivity. I have also begun to explore dance and movement as they relate to cognition, consciousness, and embodiment. In August 2011, I began an appointment at University of Central Florida, where I teach the graduate "Embodiment" course, along with several other undergraduate courses. One course I am working to develop will likely be team-taught with a dance faculty member and will explore movement, subjectivity, and embodied cognition.
I recently defended my dissertation at the University of South Florida under the direction of Rebecca Kukla and Shaun Gallagher (UCF). The rest of my committee included Andy Clark (Edinburgh), Alex Levine, and Thomas Williams.
Besides my academic life, I am an avid dog-lover, swimmer, ballet dancer, Malbec drinker, and language learner (currently learning Hungarian). I also have interests in Quantum Theory, Public Health, and Linguistics, although I rarely have time to engage with these things.
